About the Event
Let's come together and gather some simple and potent tools for resourcing self care and heart-centred embodiment. Through movement, music, meditation and breath - supported by the heart opening potency of raw cacao - we will come together in an intimate community to invoke peace, compassion and loving kindness. We will explore possibilities for opening up pathways to peace in our own hearts, our relationships and the global web of life.
This isn’t a magical ‘quick fix cure all’, but it is certainly medicine and may well help shine the light for the next baby steps on our personal and collective paths. Simply being, breathing, moving and communing together can be profoundly healing and encouraging. Our intention here is to open up and allow a safe space for whatever needs to be felt and expressed physically, emotionally and spiritually; not to go into political discussions, but to find creative ways to be with and move with whatever is emerging. We will gently seek life affirming choices in our thoughts, feelings and behaviour that begin to embody ‘love in action’ : the grounded compassionate moment to moment actions that may emerge from self care and communal care that is being called for in these challenging times. Included in this is our innate capacity for celebration and joy.
As the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu offer in The Book of Joy: “The goal is not just to create joy for ourselves but, as the Archbishop poetically phrased it, “to be a reservoir of joy, an oasis of peace, a pool of serenity that can ripple out to all those around you.” As we will see, joy is in fact quite contagious. As is love, compassion, and generosity. So being more joyful is not just about having more fun. We’re talking about a more empathic, more empowered, even more spiritual state of mind that is totally engaged with the world.”
― Dalai Lama XIV, The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World

MOVEMENT MEDICINE is a body based movement meditation practice that will reconnect you to the wisdom of living from the heart, the joy of knowing who you are and the satisfaction of making your unique contribution to life. It is shamanic medicine for our times. It gives us direct, embodied experience of the dance of life that’s going on inside us and all around us. Simply put, Movement Medicine reconnects us, deepening our capacity for empathy and compassionate being and action.
In many traditions, especially in Central and South America, as well as in our experience Cacao is seen as a sacred plant medicine and celebrated for its capacity to open hearts to feeling, intimacy and deepening grounded empathy.
To quote Alex Pardhy: “Did you know that cacao contains theophylline? And that theophylline is routinely given for the acute management of severe asthma? Why? Because it relaxes the smooth muscles of the bronchial airways and pulmonary blood vessels - opening the lungs & their blood supply. This is the physiological reason why cacao “opens the heart” so to speak. Add in the feel good compounds of serotonin, anandamide & the high levels of muscle relaxing magnesium and you have a cocktail of chest opening, shoulder relaxing magic. I love it when science and the rhetoric of the spiritual/medicine scene meld into one another… The “heart opening effects of cacao” really are biologically happening.

As a couple we are Awakening The Wild. We produce a wide range of nourishing and healing events and programmes, both online and in-person, including rituals, ceremonies, gatherings in nature, workshops, courses, circles of men and circles of women. Individually we offer 1-1 mentoring and group work and love to share our creative medicine in many mediums. We believe in the genius of humanity to grow, adapt, heal and create beauty. We recognise the need for connection, movement, touch, space to breathe, places to create together, to heal together, to sing and dance and laugh together, to sit around the sacred fire together, to reconnect to nature and our own true natures and to tell good stories, life - affirming stories.
