About the Event

This is a time of gentle awakening and heartwarming. It is a time to awaken the wild dancer and gather in community. With the support of the beautiful heart expanding medicine CACAO we will ride the waves of the music, guided by the mysterious choreography of our sacred bodies, hearts, minds and breath. With an eclectic medicine bag of Movement Medicine tools and teachings on offer we invite you to root deeply, dance wildly and resource yourself in these unprecedented times we are living through on our beautiful Mother Earth. There is an abundance of energy available to us when we remember we are elemental beings intrinsically interconnected through the web of life. Blessed we are to dance on this ground! So let's dance for our lives and the love of all life!

Keef and Aluna will encourage you with poetic inspiration and rhythmic soul food and serve up an eclectic mix of tribal-rhythms, indigenous-inspirations, songs, mantras, drums and rattle. We will give thanks and praise to this day, this life, this moment. This is the way we pray. This is the way we meet the day. This is The Choice , if you choose: Say YES to life today and dance.

MOVEMENT MEDICINE is "Contemporary Shamanism through Movement to Change the Dream of the Modern World. It is a creative, embodied meditation practice for our times. It is rooted in ancient wisdom and modern understanding of how change happens. Its intention is to help you to access more of the physical and emotional intelligence that’s inside you through bringing awareness to the way you move, feel and think. Whatever your level of experience, age or condition, conscious movement practice is a force for creative expression and mindfulness in day to day life. Movement Medicine is an invitation for personal empowerment in the context of community. Our experience has shown us that genuine contentment comes from knowing who you are and making your contribution to life in a way that is meaningful to you. Our work is devoted to supporting you on that journey. Often, all it takes is a little encouragement to feel the music, get moving and trust the dance that’s inside you.”

WHY DANCE?

Dance connects us with our bodies, hearts and minds and with each other. The freedom of dance shatters the binds of “should” and “shouldn’ts” that squeeze the juice from life. As an active meditation, dance cuts through the noise of the mind. It helps us to find a sense of peace and a greater connection to the highest place of our own inspiration.

MOVEMENT AS MEDITATION

Through our dance practice, our patterns come to light and by becoming conscious of them, we can begin to explore new possibilities. The life of the dance starts to inform the dance of our life. It’s where movement, meditation and energy converge. And movement becomes medicine.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT from Movement Medicine Practice?

• Support to find your own free dance.

• Support to find the confidence to be yourself, to communicate, to enjoy relating, giving and receiving.

• A friendly, safe, non-judgmental welcoming atmosphere, no matter what your age, background, dance experience, culture, appearance or experience.

• A healthier body, heart, mind and connection to your soul.

• An inspiring blend of great music and clear teaching to support your journey

CACAO

In many traditions Cacao is seen as a sacred plant medicine and celebrated for its capacity to open hearts to feeling, inti

macy and deepening grounded empathy. It is known as 'The Food for the Shift'. An Indigenous myth tells us whenever the balance between humans and nature becomes threatened, cacao comes from the rainforest to open people's hearts and return us all to harmony.

Ceremonial grade cacao is a sacred plant also known as the “blood of the heart” is an important, powerful, and previously overlooked teacher, facilitator and a medicine.

The Cacao Spirit ‘returns’ – from a long history with Indigenous peoples.

* Please note: Please inform us if you experience any health problems, especially if you suffer from any heart conditions or you take antidepressants! In such caces Ceremonial Cacao is not adviced. In case of pregnancy or high sentivity to stimulants you are recommended  to commune with only a small amount of Cacao. Read an attached disclaimer

GONGBATH

A Gongbath is a form of meditation accessible to everyone - no knowledge or experience

required! Gongs have been used as shamanic healing tools for thousands of years and are

part of the Sound Healing tradition. All you have to do is lie comfortably on the floor with

a mat and blanket and be open to the experience.

It's called a 'bath' because you are immersed in the sounds and vibrations created by the

gongs and other instruments during the session. These vibrations are absorbed throughout

the entire body and encourage deep relaxation and help retune the body by releasing

blocked energy. The vibrations also help the mind to relax - to let go of the daily busy-ness

and chatter, as your brainwaves slow into the Theta state (between daydreaming and

sleep). This is where the deep relaxation and restorative healing begin.

The gongs play for approx. 40 minutes, followed by a period of silence, known as Shunyata.

This time allows the vibrations and energy to settle and begin to integrate into your

bodies. At the end of this period, I will invite you to gently 'awaken', and bring your focus

back to the 'here and now'.

This session is designed to celebrate Spring Equinox: a time

of Awakening, Buddings, Fire, Passion, Energy and Growth. The gongs used will focus on

these energies and the Elements of Water and Fire.

Andy Hughes

I have been a gong player since 2010, exploring their meditative, theraputic qualities,

offering small group sound baths and larger group performances. I am a Member of the

College of Sound Healing and trained on their Gong Practitioner Course, Graduating in

2018. Currently, I offer individual and group Gongbaths, which are designed to mirror the

cycles of the year, the corresponding balance between the 5 Elements (Earth, Water, Fire,

Air and Ether) and how we humans can reconnect with the natural cycles of Mother Earth.

WHAT DO I NEED?

Bring water and comfortable clothes to move in. Bare feet or dancing shoes.

For the Gongbath:

A mat, blanket, pillow, bottled water, warm, comfortable clothing, an extra

pair of socks ( we  strongly recommend you remove footwear - both for comfort and to help

the vibrations flow more easily) - Whatever you need to make yourself a warm,

comfortable nest!

Open mind, heart and a body that is willing and able to find the rhythm and move.
